Stop-motion puppets from Kubo and the Two Strings on display...

In Laika's fourth stop-motion animated feature film, Kubo and the Two Strings, a young boy living in feudal Japan goes on a fantastical quest to find his father's magical suit of armour with the help of a Samurai Beetle and a Monkey to defeat an evil immortal spirit.

Along the way the plucky one-eyed 'Kubo' has to face his evil twin aunts, the sisters of his sick mother.

This display of amazing stop-motion puppets was first photographed on display at the FIDM Museum in Downton L.A. on February 8, then on a later visit on February 21, 2017, when Kubo's mother and the old villager 'Kameyo' were added to the exhibit, replacing Beetle and Monkey.

Deborah Cook was Costume Designer creating the looks for these miniature characters based in feudal Japan and from this display you can see the detail on these outfits, especially Kubo's mother and her evil Sisters.

For more from Laika films, you can also check out these ParaNorman movie puppets and sets, these Coraline stop-motion puppets and these costumes, sets and puppets for The Boxtrolls.
